「公共」の思想と歴史、またそれを踏まえた上での「公共空間の（再）創造」について、理論的かつ具体的に研究している。近年の主な関心は以下の通り。①公共哲学と「公／私」区分の再考、②シェアの諸相と理論、③「空きスペース」（廃校、空き家／団地／店舗、空き地…）や公園等のリノベーションを通じたパブリックデザイン、④シェアと新しいライフスタイル。
