各研究分担者は大道芸、見世物、売春業、飲食業、大衆歌謡、ギャンブル、狂気系見世物などそれぞれの研究担当領域におけるリサーチを行なった。2年目は主として娯楽文化の具体的な劇作品への反映が演劇の娯楽産業としての性質にどう関わるかを検討した。
その結果を各研究分担者は、篠崎実「『舞台まるごとを鏡にして』――『気質なおし』に見るジョンソンのキャリア創出」; 末廣幹「ウィリアム・ウィッチャリーの『田舎女房』における酔歌再考」、岩田美喜‘Tony Lumpkin in and out of Sweet Auburn: The Literary Topography of Oliver Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer’などあわせて９本の論攷をShakespeare Journalなど内外の研究誌、研究論文集に発表した。
また、研究成果のうち、土井雅之「シェイクスピア独自のフィレンツェ像はどのように形成されたのか」は日本英文学会全国大会で発表された。
2021年3月13、14日にオンラインで研究会を行ない、土井雅之と松岡浩史がそれぞれ飲食業と狂人の見世物についての研究発表を行ない、大阪大学教授山田雄三氏と鹿児島国際大学教授小林潤司氏を招いてそれぞれ見世物としての悪魔憑きと座付き作者の仕事についての講演をしてもらった。
全体として具体的な劇作品の分析に基づいた娯楽産業と演劇の関係にたいする考察が深まった。
