My research interest is to empirically clarify the mechanisms that give rise to the poor and needy (especially those in homelessness) and their actual conditions. Specifically, focusing on social resources such as homeless self-reliance support centers and NPOs, as well as on the local community ('SAN’YA" area in Tokyo).
In recent years, I have conducted joint research with researchers in the U.S. to conduct comparative research on the actual conditions of people experiencing homelessness and support programs for them.
