    Profile

    Masaru Yamada has worked as an in-house interpreter and translator at Ford Motor Company, an IT localization project manager, and an industrial translator and consultant before transitioning to a university faculty role. He is currently focused on research and education, with a recent interest in the social implementation of multilingual communication and translation utilizing AI. His lifelong goal is to "Change the World through Translation."

    His research interests include empirical studies of the translation process (Empirical TPR), translation technology (CAT tools, MTPE, large language models like ChatGPT), and the application of machine translation in foreign language education (TILT, MTILT). Masaru is the CEO of Translation Lab Inc., Chief Evangelist at Yaraku Inc., and the founder of the online salon, Translation Cafe. He has served as a board member of the Japan Association of Interpreting and Translation Studies (JAITS) and the Asia-Pacific Association for Machine Translation (AAMT).
