      <p>  Serious efforts need to be made with respect to the climate crisis that is becoming ever more severe. Given the world's current situation, it is necessary to transform people's lifestyles so as to construct sustainable societies worldwide. In this study, we analyzed the transformation process of consciousness and action for the purpose of developing a transformative learning program. Our findings are as follows:</p><p>  (1) We found two types of consciousness transformation process: the transformation of a sense of value through notification from a social problem; and the transformation of a viewpoint through notification from a new choice in the way of living.</p><p>  (2) We found the importance of four types of support for eliminating the disincentive of the transformation process of action: role model, navigator, partner, and supporter.</p><p>  (3) We found two examples of the transformation process of consciousness and action: short-time transformation and gradual transformation. In the case of a person who doesn't realize the transformation process of action despite a deadlock in life, the acquisition of skills and the development of a human network through external training prove effective in preparing for the transformation.</p><p>  (4) We found two paths: the transformation of consciousness makes a transformation of action; whilst the transformation of action makes a transformation of consciousness. A limited time trial can bring about real action.</p>

      <p>  To sustain the involvement of private business in education for sustainable development (ESD), an objective and concrete evaluation is needed. This paper attempted to conduct an independent evaluation of a short-term ESD program provided by a private company as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity for primary school students aged between 10 and 12, and discussed proper evaluation methods of learning effects and effective designs for such short-term ESD programs. Evaluation items were selected in consideration of the skills that the program intended to develop as well as those that should be developed in ESD or environmental education defined by the North American Association of Environmental Education, National Institute for Educational Policy Research (Japan) and others. The evaluation consisted of pre- and post-questionnaire surveys with program participants (students) and their parents. Our results showed that the responses and feedback from not only participants, but also their parents were valuable for proper evaluation and continuity of the program. Our evaluation was utilized for making a "go" or "no-go" decision about the next year's challenges of the private company that organized this program. We also found the collaboration between organizers, planners, and evaluators from an earlier stage improved the quality of the program and the evaluation applied. Short-term ESD programs can provide a good opportunity for participants to develop their interests in a new field or to find new ideas and perspectives, especially by utilizing the unique aspect of non-formal education programs that can create situations different from ordinary learning environments and with different members that stimulate the participants.</p>

      根本的なライフスタイル転換が外的要因からもたらされる価値観の転換、暮らしや社会活動等での学びの積み重ねによる「自己の成長」プロセスと一体的にあると考え、その「自己の成長」プロセスモデルを設定し、環境・エネルギーに係る地域づくりを担うキーパーソンのライフストーリーに関する半構造化インタビュー調査を10名に対して実施した。この結果、特に重要な4点が明らかになった。
      第1に、意識の転換には、「社会の問題への気づきによる価値規範の転換」と「生き方の選択肢への気づきによる視座の転換」という異なるタイプのものがある。各タイプに応じた転換の支援を考える必要がある。
      第2に、意識の転換が行動の転換に結びつくとは限らず、行動の転換を実現させる要因があるが、特に転換を阻害する要因を解消する4つのタイプの人(ロールモデル、ナビゲーター、パートナー、サポーター)の存在が重要である。
      第3に、意識・行動の転換には、それが短期間に起こる場合と長期間にわたって漸進的に起こる場合がある。行き詰まりを長く抱えながら、行動転換に至らない場合には、外部の研修等での技能の獲得やそれを通じたネットワークの形成が行動の転換の準備となる。
      第4に、「意識の転換→行動の転換」という経路だけでなく、「行動の転換→意識の転換」という経路がある。この場合の行動は、期間が限定された一時的な行動であるが、このお試しの行動による意識の転換が生じ、行動の本格化へと進む場合がある。
