Senior Specially Appointed Professor

国際民事手続法、比較法の基礎理論および比較訴訟法を、並行して研究している。比較法原論の分野においては、日本比較法学史の構想を具体化し、日本比較法学の確立者たる杉山直治郎の普遍比較法学を検討して、以上の研究結果を『普遍比較法学の復権』(信山社)という一書にまとめた。また、比較法の体系的叙述をめざして、「比較法学者たちの饗宴(1)(2)(3)」を「立教法務研究」に連載し、世界比較法学史、比較法序論、法族論を詳細に展開した。民事訴訟法の歴史についても本格的研究を開始し、ヨーロッパ民事訴訟法史研究の出発点として、「歴史叙述としての民事訴訟(1)(2)」を同じく「立教法務研究」に連載中である。
