言語学・スペイン語学、なかでも語彙論や意味論が専門。語の意味がどのように構成され、変化していくか、１つの語の持つ複数の意味がどのように関連付けられるかとか、語彙がどのように言語話者の認識を枠づけているか、新しい語が作られる際にどのような原理が働いているか、といったことについて、主にスペイン語を対象言語として研究している。いずれも一見役に立たない地味なテーマだが、こうした研究を通して、言葉の持つ流動性や創造性、その言語の話者の語感の根底にあるものが垣間見られるという観点から研究に取り組んでいる。
