  • 東南アジア、特にマレーシア・シンガポール・ブルネイなどの島嶼部について、フィールドワークを元にした地域研究を行っている。言語文化を主な研究対象とし、アジアのポストコロニアル文学に加え、旅行記・ガイドブックなどのトラベルライティングについて、史資料解釈の他、インタビューによって得られるオーラルヒストリーなどの研究手法を用いる。指導可能なテーマとして、観光文化と文学研究、人の移動としての華僑華人研究などがある。

      本研究は、聖母出現によってカトリック有数の聖地となったフランスのルルド、シャーロック・ホームズに代表される「キャラクター」をめぐってファンが行う「聖地巡礼」、そして19世紀の英米における心霊主義を比較対照することによって、19世紀以後の大衆消費社会に特有の虚実融合現象に基づく特殊な共同体として観光を再定義するとともに、そこでの想像力の役割を解明することを目指している。当該年度の研究実績の概要は、主として以下の二点に要約できる。
      ①昨年度に引き続き、国内における「コピー版ルルド」、とりわけ長崎の浦上地区の事例を調査、ルルドという土地の力の「移し／写し」を実践した事例の収集と分析を進め、研究分担者が成果の一端を論文化した。すなわち、ルルドの「分霊」の結果として観光が移植されず、原爆投下によって観光地化が阻害されている。
      ②観光における想像力の問題を検討する「観光文学研究会」を12回にわたって開催し、日本文学研究者、フランス文学研究者、韓国文学研究者、中国文学研究者、台湾文学研究者、地理学者、社会学者、都市工学研究者、日本史研究者らを招いて発表を依頼し、意見交換を行った。研究代表者は、そこでの議論から得た示唆に基づき、自身が監訳者を務めたメサック著『「探偵小説」の考古学』の解題において、擬似科学的想像力および「パリ神話」に関する議論を展開した。「パリ神話」は現状維持のイデオロギーだが、ルルドの聖地化のプロセスでは、同様のメカニズムが逆に作用した可能性がある。
      以上の研究活動により、比較対象を広げると同時に、多分野の研究者とのネットワークを構築することができた。

      This study performed "Tourism" and the study of the modern mutual relations of "Diaspora" that had been arrested as a phenomenon to have different character mutually while resembling it in the part called "Migration Studies" until now. It was a problem how the community and the network of the Chinese Overseas (Chinese immigrant) in Southeast Asia made tourist attractions on this occasion that this study chose as an example. I caught the diverse aspects of community and the network of the Chinese immigrant by a concept of "the Diaspora experience" and was able to clarify it about recognition, construction, a problem whether was used as tourist attractions how there between the plural agents such as the different ethnic group and non-Chinese immigrant system nation.

      The ultimate purpose of the present study is to compile a Shanghai dialect Japanese dictionary which will facilitate learning and studying the dialect for Japanese. As a first step toward achieving this goal, the following three activities were conducted :
      (1) Approximately 1 5,000words were selected for the compilation of the dictionary after assembling numerous words from dictionaries, lexica, newspapers, journals and so forth.
      (2) Pinyin, Chinese letters, pronunciation, colloquial forms and Japanese translation of the selected words were determined.
      (3) Multilingual database was created for improving the state of information processing in Chinese language.
      By completing these activities, the foundation for compiling the dictionary was firmly established.
