  • 近代日本教育史を研究テーマとする。とりわけ、近代「日本」における対「外」認識の形成を中心として研究を行っている。歴史や地理などの教科教育の歴史に即した分析を行い、例えば「東洋」と「西洋」、「アジア」という認識がどのように形成されてきたのか、また、そこにはどのような問題があったのかを明らかにすることに取り組んでいる。

      文部省による戦時下最大の学界再編・組織化の試みであった日本諸学振興委員会についてその組織と活動を調査・分析した研究である。
      1936年から1945年の9年間、日本諸学振興委員会のもとに人文・社会科学を中心に自然科学も含む9つの分野（教育学、哲学、国語国文学、歴史学、経済学、芸術学、法学、自然科学、地理学）の学会が、順次組織化され、各学会がほぼ年1回のペースで開催された。本研究では、教育学会を中心にして、各学問分野の文部省による組織化の過程を明らかにしていった。調査にあたっては、日本諸学振興委員会各学会の内容分析を、各学会の委員、発表者、発表内容についてのデータベース化を行い、日本諸学振興委員会自体について成立から終焉までの経緯を解明するとともに、日本諸学振興委員会を含めた戦時下日本の全般的な学問再編状況についての分析を行った。
