教育人間学、教育思想を研究テーマとする。人間形成の閉塞状況がささやかれる現代において、教育学になお固有の役割があるとすれば何なのか。この原理的課題を掘り下げる第一歩として、近代的ディシプリンとしての教育学の系譜を、N.ルーマンの社会システム理論に依拠して再検討している。
