I organized a conference on art and dementia held at the University of Tsukuba Hospital (思い出の中へ:アートと認知症を巡る講演会とワークショップ),I invited Julian West (Royal College of Music) and Hannah Zeilig (UAL) to demonstrate art and co-creativity.This collaboration led to a grant with ESRC-AHRC 2019-20 led by Julian West(co-collaborator).This enabled me to see programs in UK where co-creativity is being practiced. A small symposium was also held at the RCM in London with artists and researchers to share ideas and practices. I co-presented a paper entitled: “Nationalism, Dementia and the Asian-American Experience” with Dr. Naomi Furnish-Yamada at the SEAA Japan Conference, Waseda University. I also presented our findings at RCM 2019.Furthermore,I assisted with Alzheimer’s Los Angeles Faces of Caregiving event.

日本にとってロサンゼルスは、アメリカ各地への重要な入り口であり、ひいては西部全域へと広がる。その理由は次の三つである：日本人居住率の高さと日本からの巨額な投資、アメリカ最大の港であり西海岸におけるハブ空港であること、そしてアメリカ映画、音楽、テレビ業界の中心地であることだ。これらの要因によって、ここで発展した文化的なトレンドが世界中を取り巻く可能性は十分にある。では、日本のポップ・カルチャーはどのようにしてポップ・シュルレアリスムに影響を与えているのだろうか？カートゥーンやコミックブック、アニメや漫画は、それなしの生活が想像できなくなる程に我々の生活に溢れかえっている。
